I was broken hearted when I heard the news…no room for first responders!
Yes, I understand that there is only so much room, and yes, I understand that victims’ family members certainly need to be able to attend the ten-year anniversary of the worst tragedy this country has had to deal with since the Civil War.
I really do understand that. But I was still broken hearted to hear that there would be no room for first responders on this very, very special day…no room for those men and women who put their own lives on the line to help those in need…no room for the families to finally be able to thank those who rushed in, trying to save their loved ones.
I don’t know. Maybe being from Texas causes us to think bigger and broader, but I have to believe that if Texas and Texans had been attacked on that fateful day in 2001, we would have found a way to invite everyone, a way to grieve with those still hurting, a way to say thank you to those who helped…but unfortunately, New York is not Texas, is it?
