1925 De Leon Bearcats Football Team

I was going through folders on an external drive that I seldom use when I found the following photo. I’m hoping some of you can help us identify some of these long ago Bearcats!

DE LEON 1925 FOOTBALL TEAM

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.

  3. Linda Nance Marks says:

Thanks for the picture of the 1925 Bearcats. My Daddy, William Walter Nance Jr is on the second row far right. His brother Tom Nance is on the top row far left. The Nance cousins have been comparing family notes. There is a picture in the DeLeon History Book in your library of two of the Lightfoot boys and two of the Nance boys. One was Steve Nance. The two Nance boys are brothers of my Grandfather, W. W. Nance Sr. They are the sons of William Bascom and Caroline Nance. My question is how are the Lightfoots ken to the Nance’s. A cousin said that one of the girls married a Lightfoot. There was only one Nance daughter who survived to adulthood. I think she was called Willie, but I cannot determine who she married. Do you have any keys to this mystery? Thanks, Linda
