1st Gas Pipeline In Dublin, Texas

The following photo was taken in 1925 on what I am sure was an extremely exciting day in Dublin, Texas. In fact, the photo commemorates the first gas pipeline in the little Texas town, and what had to be a HUGE event! It would be a year before the fires actually came on, but what a great day this was!

Pictured with the shovel is Dublin mayor, C.E. Leatherwood. If you have information as to the others in the photo, please list them in the comment boxes below.

DUBLINAt the risk of sounding like the students I once taught, be sure to notice the “dude” on the left. Are those knickers he is wearing? As my grandfather would have said, “He looks like a dandy!”

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.
