• A Veterans Day Salute

Thanks to Elaine Fields Smith, this wonderful vintage photo made its way to Texansunited.com! Elaine found the photo on the Texas State Library and Archives Commission site. So who is this brave man? Here’s what TSLAC said:

“Today we salute the service of all U.S. military veterans, past and present. Veterans such as Lt. Colonel Jack Simmons Jenkins, Commander of the 55th Fighter Group, U.S. Army Air Forces. A soldier from De Leon, TX, Jenkins is pictured here in November 1945 with a P-38 Lightning aircraft called the “Texas Ranger” at the Group’s headquarters in Northampstead, England. Photo is in the Texas State Archives.”

    About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.
