• Ag Business Team Heading To State!

It looks like once again we are all going to have to take our hats off to yet another group of CHS students, a group heading to yet another state contest!

Mr. O'Quinn, Taylor Stephens, Tyler Payne, Colten Jones, B.J. Reichmann, Mr. Heller

Yes, on May 4, 2012, new CHS Ag teachers, Blake O’Quinn and Vinnie Heller, will be taking their Ag Business team to the state competition at Sam Houston University where these students will compete for state honors. The first place team in this contest will then advance to the national competition.

Members of the four-person team are Tyler Payne, junior; Taylor Stephens, junior; B.J. Reichmann, junior; Colten Jones, freshman.

“Career Development Events build on what is learned in agricultural classes and encourage members to put their knowledge into practice. These events are designed to help a member prepare for a career in agriculture by testing and challenging the student’s technical, leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills as well as their knowledge of the subject matter. CDEs answer the question, “When will I use this knowledge in the real world?”

Many CDEs are qualifying events for the National FFA CDE competition and/or offer scholarship opportunities.” (1)

Texansunited.com is excited to have both Blake and Vinnie working with these students, AND be sure to check out their brand new blog here on TU!
