Brennan Vineyards Winning Awards And Harvesting

We are pleased to announce that we received some nice awards at the prestigious San Francisco International Wine Competition.

The Brennan Vineyards Lily 2011 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 got Silver Medals. And the Brennan Vineyards Viognier 2011 and Brennan Vineyards Dark Horse 2010 got Bronze Medals.

I think we are finished with wine commotions for a while which is good because we are going to start harvesting this week. I spent all of the morning in our three vineyards today. One in Comanche near the winery and the other two are in Newburg.

I got samples of all the different white grapes that we grow. It takes several hours to get everything I need. Some of the things we are looking at to determine if we are about to harvest is skin color, seed color, stem color. And once I get the grapes to the lab we are looking at the Brix (sauger content) and pH (strength of the acid).

I think we will be harvesting a new block of Viognier in our Newburg vineyard and Chardonnay this week. We are getting very close on both. I will re-test the, both on Wednesday and we will go from there.
