Can You Help Us Remember The Blackwood Hospital?

“Sometime in the future” Comanche plans to have what we are calling Heritage Trail at the moment. Today, I am working on the old Blackwood Clinic/Hospital. I would like to compile as many memories as possible from those of you who remember anything at all about it…who worked there, treatment you received there, walking by there….you name it.

The sign will eventually have a QR code on it that will allow those interested to use their phone to pull up these memories so we need LOTS of them! Please comment in the boxes below.

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.

I remember a sign that was posted over the swinging doors that led from the lobby back into the hospital. It was a picture of a nurse with her index finger to her lips, indicating the need for quiet. Also remember the glass bricks that let the light in.

is this the one that was where the old Bayer Mo Co used to be?? If so, my husband was delivered there. By Dr Dan Mims….he was Dr Dan’s FIRST delivery….my mother-in-law has told me he was so nervous to deliver him that when she did deliver, he dropped the suction and had to send the nurse to get another one…. :D
