Can You Identify These Beauties From 1945?

Debbie Mangan will be forever thankful if you can help her identify these beautiful Comanche High School prom girls from 1945. All we know is that her mom, Londa Reed, is sitting in the bottom right position, and Missy Jones thinks the girl on the back right is Gwen Evans Greenlee and that the girl in the front spot is her sister, Lou Evans Westfall. Thanks!

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for and marketing small-town Texas.

Fredda, I think that the girl in the picture, top, right, is Gwen Evans Greenlee. Missy Jones

I think that the girl center, bottom is Gwen’s sister, Lou Evans Westfall. Missy Jones

Fredda, Missy is absolutely right. On the back row, standing is L-Imogene Williams (Craig) and R Gwen Evans (Greenlee), who are both Juniors in 1945. Front row is L to R, Maxine Reid, Lou Evans {Westfall) and Londa Ruth Reed (Davis, Gibson), who are all 3 seniors in 1945. The occasion is the Junior/Senior Banquet (no such thing as a PROM back in those days.). All the girls lived at Hasse, except we two Evans girls, and all were enrolled in CHS. All are still living except Londa Ruth. The picture was made by Mr. Adolph Profitt in his studio. We were all so happy!

Gwen, thank you so much for this comment! You have no idea how many times I wonder how you are doing. Do I pick up a phone and find out? No! BUT…I would love to see you.

Fredda, thank you for the kind words. It is nice that someone, especially you, wonder how we are doing. The answer is of course CALL ANYTIME. I love to talk and Don’s hearing is so bad he can’t hear. I can tell you more about the picture and the girls if you need it. La Rue Sears, (mrs. billy sears) can tell you about Maxine Reed, who she married, where she lives, etc. Her bros. still live in Comanche–Wallace Reid and John Reid. Gene Williams Craig lives in Rogers, Ark. Call or write anytime. Love, Gwen
