• Cheryl Marie Thiebaud- Last Christmas With My Mom

    marthastewart.com

I once wrote an article about Mrs. Cyril Irby and her words of kindness that meant so much to me as a young woman.  This week my friend, Cheryl Marie Thiebaud, wrote about another teacher and another act of kindness that touched her life forever.

My Mother was sick, very sick…in and out of the hospital and being a farmer’s daughter, we were BROKE.

I was in the 6th grade and had Mrs. Liss as a teacher. She had the class make a very pretty Christmas tree out of paper and then presented it to me for my family.

Mrs. Liss had no idea how that act of kindness impacted me…for life!!!!

This was the last Christmas my Mother was with us.

It wasn't a tree like we are used to today, but it was a tree that made a difference like no other has since!

    About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.
