• Comanche Coach Micky Baker Featured

MICKY BAKERMy husband was probably not the only Comanche Maiden fan who cheered yesterday morning when he saw Maiden basketball coach, Micky Baker, featured in the Abilene Reporter News under the heading, “Baker trying to restore Comanche greatness,” by Evan Ren. Of course, with a number 5 ranking in the TABC poll (as of 1-21) and a 25-4 season record, the Maidens are certainly doing their best to prove Ren correct!

“When I got here, I knew the past tradition of Comanche and that’s one of the reasons why I came here. “

Baker went on to say that upon arriving in Comanche, he realized that there were some things that had changed over the years that needed “fixing” if the Maidens were to return to their powerhouse status of old.

“We needed to ask ourselves, why are we working this hard and what are we working for. We needed a winning attitude…”

And a winning attitude is something every Comanche Maiden wears into every game as surely as they do their Maiden jersey. Here at United we are hoping that their season lasts a whole lot longer…
