In Bastrop, Texas
I’ve said it before and I will say it again: We don’t get a lot of help from outsiders here in this state (Of course, I do not mean first responders.), but we are good about helping our own. You know what I mean; when one Texan is in trouble, you can ususally bet that another will step up to help.
So, when Penny Hamilton told me about some from Comanche’s First Baptist Church going to Bastrop, I just had to tell you about it or rather, I asked Penny to report to you herself.
At approximately 4:30 Saturday morning, a group of energetic members from First Baptist Church, Comanche, set out for a mission trip to Bastrop. Our goal was to help home owners who had been victims of the recent fires clean their lots, yards, and whatever else they needed in order to help restore their lives back to normal. , Texas and FBC and headed up by Pastor J.R. Hopson, and Charles Carroll from Comanche. After a wonderful breakfast we were on the road.
This was a combined effort between Ridgeway Baptist Church.
We arrived at Ridgeway Baptist Church about 9:30 where we were split into groups and taken to our work sites. Our work included cleaning debris from home sites, cutting trees, loading scrap metal, and getting to know the needs of our homeowners.
Our lunch and snacks were prepared and delivered to our work sites by Debbie Johnston, Wanda Carney, and Betty Herbert. After a long day we returned to the church and headed back home about 7:00 p.m.
We are looking forward to our next trip.
