• Davis Oldest Rider In Comanche Rodeo Parade

    Michael, Merlin, Dusty

    Merlin Davis tells me that he has twenty-three other trophies sitting on the shelf at home, trophies he has won through the years for being the oldest rider in various rodeo parades. When I asked him how that could be, Merlin’s answer was fairly simple;

    “I’m 92!”

    Hot as it was, it never crossed the Comanche man’s mind to skip out on this year’s Comanche Rodeo Parade, even though he planned to ride a new horse and even though no one knew just how that horse would react to the usual parade commotion.

    The ride turned into a family affair when nephew Michael Davis and cousin Dusty Jones joined Merlin on his ride.

    About Fredda Jones

    Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.
