I have HORRIBLE genetics for blood pressure, blood sugar, as well as heart, cholesterol, and triglyceride problems. And yet, up until this point I have beaten the odds against me, with my doctors claiming that I have some of the best levels they have ever recorded in a person of my age.
Obviously, I could be a freak of nature, a throwback to some hardy ancestor; however, my suspicion is that I take much better care of myself than did my parents and grandparents and even my younger brothers. This detox drink is just part of the routine.*
12 Ounces Water (I use about 8.)
2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar (I use organic.)
2 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon (I use Ceylon.)
1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
*If you are new to detox, I’d cut back on the ingredients since there is no reason to overload your system or possibly make yourself sick. You will notice that today I am drinking an iced drink; however, I put my cinnamon and pepper in a little water and heat it before adding it to the rest of the ingredients.
In the winter, I usually heat it all and drink as a tea. I do not add stevia, but a little would be fine if you need to do that. I find that it cuts the appetite, helps my system stay alkaline, and speeds up metabolism. Of course, I can’t tell you that it will do any of those things for you.
Oh….serving in my grandmother’s goblet makes me feel as though I’m having a special occasion!
