• Dublin Area Reunion To Be Held June 9, 2012

As hard as it is to believe, it has been twenty-six years since 1986, the year that Dublin held its first Dublin Area Reunion. Twenty-six years later, the theme for the June 9, 2012, event will revert to the theme used for the original reunion… “Hearts Home.”

Hearts Home was created as a theme for what would become an annual event by reunion organizers Mary and Dick Yantis and the late Betty and Everett Hightower. That original reunion came at a time when the community was experiencing turmoil and organizers wanted to pull the focus back to the positive aspects of Dublin.

Now in its sixth year with corporate sponsor Dublin National Bank, the Dublin Area Reunion is designed to bring together new friends and old friend, not just classmates but also anyone who lives in Dublin, has ever lived in Dublin, or as Mrs. Yantis once said, “anyone who drove through town and wished they lived here.”

“We just want to focus on the many positive aspects of our Dublin lifestyle and encourage optimism and unity as we transition into a new day,” said Tammy Geisler-Kenney who with Crystal Johnson heads up the bank’s reunion activities. “Heart and home are solid anchors for positive thinking.”

The reunion will kick off at 9 a.m. in the high school cafeteria, and lunch will be provided by the Dublin Historical Society who will be hosting its annual fund raiser barbecue from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Coffee, Triple XXX Root Beer from Dublin Bottling Works, and homemade cookies will be served until the day winds down at 3:00 p.m.

The event coincides each year with the birthday celebration of what is now Dublin Bottling Works, the Lions Club 10-2-4k run, Tour de Pepper bicycle race and the Alley Fest arts and crafts show.

Everyone is invited to stop by for a quick visit or to spend the day at the reunion.
