And on the 8th day, God made a Farmer. I’ve heard it said that on the 9th day, God made a stock show kid. Stock show, stock show kids, and Ag Mechanics are just a part of Agriculture. Agriculture is a large part of our lives in Comanche. As a community, we are blessed to have an Ag Department that is growing and thriving bringing Ag Mechanics, Project Animals, and other Ag related services to our area.
The Comanche Future Farmers of America (FFA) Booster Club will be holding their annual Fish Fry Fundraiser on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 5-8 pm at Cook’s Fish Barn. Plates will be $12.00 for Ages 11 – adult, $6.00 for children 5-10, and children under 5 eat for free. There will be food and fun for all!
A live auction is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm and will feature items such as a custom made saddle hand crafted by Benjamin Hogue valued at $2,500.00 donated by Gore Bros. Agri-Service and Benjamin Hogue, a festive wreath from The Sassy Wreath, a porch swing, handmade coffee table and end tables made by ag students just to name a few. A silent auction will hold things such as gift baskets, knick knacks, and gift certificates. There will also be a dessert auction that will feature some of the most mouthwatering, tempting desserts you can imagine.
The funds gathered from this fundraiser will benefit Comanche, from putting a little money into the pockets of Market Exhibitors at the Premium Sale in January to aiding in Ag Mechanics projects and other Ag related expenses. The work these kids put into their projects is awesome to see. Ag Mechanics exhibitors start from a blank slate and create projects to be featured at Ag Mechanic Shows around the state of Texas. Animal exhibitors feed their animals several times a day and work with their animals to perfect correct stance, grace and control. Many animal exhibitors go beyond just showing their project animals in the county show and go throughout Texas showing their animals.
We would love to have your support as we work to make this the best year for our FFA Students. If you have any questions, please contact Della Hicks at (325)356-6474.
