Gage, Wright Caught Using Free Water In Comanche 1914

From a scrapbook entry titled Free Water and dated January 1914

“J.A. Gage and Capt. John “Jack” Wright were using city water without paying for same and contrary to orders passed by Council on July 8, 1912, it is ordered by the Council that the water superintendent proceed to collect water charges from all parties who may be using water.”

Obviously, I could be wrong about just who Capt. Wright of this article is. However, I’m betting that the man in the photo was the one who along with Mr. Gage was using the water. :)

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.
