Just as the name implies, Heritage Park in Glen Rose, Texas pays tribute to area heritage with its restored structures such as this 1901 Lanham Mill schoolhouse.
According to the marker found inside the park, the schoolhouse was built on land located on the Paluxy River, about five miles from where the the building sits today.
Other historic structures such as this 19th Century cabin also dot the park.
Heritage Park also affords its visitors a covered picnic area and a small playground.
The most important spot within Heritage Park is the site of the monument erected in honor of CPL Rhett Butler who lost his life July 20, 2007, when his vehicle struck an IED in Khan Bani Sa’d, Iraq. Visitors to the park are invited to pay their respects to CPL Butler.
Heritage Park is connected to Big Rocks Park via the River Walk built between the two Glen Rose, Texas attractions.
