• Glimpses of Veterans Week

As you know, the little town of Comanche, Texas, under the leadership of Mayor Ronnie Clifton, decided to turn Veterans Day into Veterans Week this year,  and this is something that we believe will do nothing but grow larger and larger. Today, I want to share just a few photos of some of the people and events of the past week.

The following photos show just a few of the people who attended the luncheon at the Methodist Church following the Veterans Day celebration at the high school. Lunch was provided for veterans, their spouses, and fire fighters.

Mr. and Mrs. Webb along with Homer Carriger are the honored veterans in this photo. Colten Jones is the student server who seems to be eating right along with the vets at the time I snapped the photo!

On the Sunday preceding Veterans Day, the Comanche County Historical Museum hosted a luncheon to honor all veterans. Brett Stephens and Floyd Key were just two of the veterans honored in the video played throughout the day.

The Comanche Dairy Queen not only furnished the cups for the day, Connie worked right along side museum board members to serve guests in any possible way.

Although I did not get a picture of the group at the Veterans Day celebration at the high school, Mrs. Kim Reedy and her guitar/vocal class also performed for the Retired Teachers meeting on Veterans Day. Pictured below are Ali Estrada, Annette Calderone, Carisssa Cole, Taylor Boyd, and Colten Jones.  Mrs. Reedy is in the far corner.

All in all, it was a great week, indicative of even greater things to come!

    About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.
