• It’s Back To School Time In Texas!

If you don’t know Patty Hirst of Dublin, Texas, you should. Today, I’ve stolen a bit of her blog for this week. I think you will love it as much as I do.

This week at Texansunited.com we are thinking good thoughts for teachers and students alike as they begin a new year.

I want to share one of my favorite poems. It speaks to the idea of, well, being different and aren’t we all????

    Kids That Are Different

Here’s to the kids who are different,
The kids who don’t always get A’s.
The kids who have ears twice the size of their peers,
And noses that go on for days.

Here’s to the kids who are different,
The kids they call crazy and dumb.
The kids who aren’t cute and don’t give a hoot,
Who dance to a different drum.

Here’s to the kids who are different,
The kids with the mischievous streak.
    For when they have grown,
    As history’s shown,
It’s their difference that makes them unique.

    About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.
