They're Your Kids!

Philly Mayor Michael Nutter just might be my new best friend or BFF as the kids like to say. And speaking of kids, the Mayor and I agree 100% on one thing: Parents need to grow up and raise their own kids!

In a stirring speech Nutter recently said, “Parents, it is your responsibility to know where your children are, what they are doing, and who they are with. They are your children and you need to raise them!”

In an effort to cut down on teen crime, loitering, and gangs, Mayor Nutter has issued a very stict curfew and plans to hold parents responsible for their children, something I have to cheer.

Do you suppose the idea might filter out to all 50 states and it might be possible to enter a restaurant where children actually know how to eat and how to behave while doing it?

It’s a thought, radical, I know, but a thought…

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for and marketing small-town Texas.

Fredda, not ever going to happen again, thanks, Dr. Spock! Us older ones are going to remember when things were different but we are a dying off breed nowdays!

Yes Fredda I so agree . The parents should be held accountable to know where their children are . Imagine staying home eating helping cook , washing dishes , cleaning working with the parents instead of roaming the roads doing nothing but looking for trouble .

You know, Steve, as crazy as it sounds children do like structure and a closely knit family, and even rules. Without all of these, they are just babies floundering in a life they are simply too young to understand.

Kids take a lot of criticism today, and my goodness there is a lot to criticize sometimes; however, behind every child is a parent, and for reasons that I just do not understand, a tremendous number of these parents simply refuse to suck it up, be a grownup, and raise their children to be decent, functioning adults.
