Martin Branch School #2 In Comanche County

My friend, Kenneth Evans, is still providing me with absolutely wonderful pieces of Comanche County history. Today, I have a photo of the Martin Branch School #2. The following information comes to us from Evans.

The Martin Branch School #2 was built about 1902. It was located across the road to the west of the Taylor’s Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, 10 miles northwest of the town of Comanche. The school was closed in 1914 when it consolidated with the Soda Springs School, which was first on the Beck place before a modern, three-teacher school was built between the two schools.

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.
