Nancy S. Stephenson b. 1842 Alabama d. 1909 Brown County Texas

The second half of my Henson/Stephenson DNA mystery comes in the form of Nancy S. (I have seen it written as Sylvania at least once.) Henson who married Isham Hopkins Stephenson.  Her mother was a Green who married a Henson, and my guess is that it is this tie to the Green family and my gr-gr-gr-grandmother Lucinda Green Swearingin that is the connection, but I can’t be sure of that.

Since the Stephensons did live some years in Comanche County (where he was a Methodist minister), did have children who married people from here, I feel sure that I am not the only one related to them from this area. I am hoping the following obit will jog a memory or two! Below the obit is the info that I feel sure ties to some of you.

Margaret Stephenson married Charles Fenwick in Comanche in 1902.
Alice Stephenson married Henry Jasper Bingham in Comanche in 1896.
Martha Ada Mae Stephenson married Amos Lafayette Thornton in Comanche in 1890.
Mary Elizabeth “Mollie” Stephenson married John Wesley Horton in Comanche in 1888.
John Parker Stephenson married Mary Francis “Fannie” Vaughn (Vaughan) in Comanche in 1889.

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for and marketing small-town Texas.
