New Red Wines

A lot is going on around here at the winery these days. We are about five weeks away from bottling the new wines at Brennan Vineyards. So, I have been hard at work in the lab everyday working with each wine to try to make them even better than they are right now. We will be bottling four red wines here at Brennan Vineyards this year: the 2009 Portejas dessert wine, the 2010 Buffalo Roam (our Rhone style red wine), the 2010 Austin St. Red (the versatile red table wine), and the 2010 Dark Horse (our new red wine made from Nero d’Avola grown at our vineyard in Newburg, TX).

On a different topic, my wife and I spent the afternoon yesterday at another Texas winery. We went to Lone Oak Winery in Burleson, TX. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a stop as it’s another one of the top producing wineries in Texas. I would highly recommend the 2010 Viognier and the 2009 Tempranillo. Leslie and I were lucky enough to get to try their not yet released to the public, newly bottledĀ 2010 Merlot as well. I think that wine will sell out quickly and probably bring some more attention to Texas wines in national wine competitions.
