You cannot be a Tarleton State University graduate without hearing about John Tarleton and the fact that the university was once upon a time called John Tarleton Agricultural College, a two-year program.

What even many Tarleton students may not know, however, is that John Tarleton operated a 10,000 acre ranch in Erath and Palo Pinto Counties in the late 1800’s and that his old ranch house is today the property of the Stephenville Historical Museum.

The Tarleton Ranch House served as the Headquarters for the ranch and it may be viewed seven days a week on the museum grounds, where visitors are always welcome!
