Tell Me About The Center Grove Community In Erath County

I know the info exists; in fact, I’m sure many of you have it.  And to be totally honest, I haven’t really dug all that deeply, but I must admit that my brief diggings have unearthed basically nothing about the Center Grove Community in Erath County.  According to what little I have found on the net, those who settled in that part of Erath County came from Alabama in 1870. Other than that, I really know nothing of the people who once built their lives and their homes in Center Grove.

Obviously, those who lived in Center Grove in 1890 valued education enough to have built this large school house.

Today the old school house sits on the grounds of the Stephenville Historical Museum for your viewing pleasure.

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.
