High School football is big in Texas, there’s no way around that fact. And the bigger it gets and the better certain teams get, the harder is for them to find teams willing to play them in preseason action. This has been true for Stephenville, and it has been true for Aledo, both Texas football powerhouses.
This year both of these teams will be participating in a trend that is gaining popularity…international games.
“I believe they end up playing them because nobody else usually wants to play certain teams. It’s crazy that it’s come down to teams ducking other teams because they either don’t want the challenge or don’t think they can compete,” stated TexasHSFootball.com editor Christopher Lyke.
The Stephenville Yellow Jackets fell to Prepa Tech (in Monterrey, Mexico) this past Friday (August 31) and the Aledo Bear Cats will match up against our neighbors to the south on September 14, both home games here in the U.S. of course.
Crazy, isn’t it?
