And the publicity continues for Dublin, Texas; this time in the very visible form of the people at Texas Highways Magazine who decided that they were interested in featuring the town of Dublin because of the interesting fact that it houses five museums within its city limit signs.
So a couple of weeks ago, Texas Highways photographer Griff Smith pulled into town, and the fun began!
We began our day inside the Dublin Historical Museum where Smith learned quite a bit about Dublin heritage.
From there we headed up the street to the Ben Hogan Museum where Karen Wright, executive director of the Dublin EDC, was waiting to talk about all of the exciting things happening for Dublin because of native son, Ben Hogan.
By this point in our day, Griff was beginning to see that there is more, much more, to Dublin, Texas than what first might meet the eye. Of course, here at Texansunited.com we’ve known that all along!
Our next stop was at Dublin’s newest museum, the W.P. Kloster Museum & Annex where visitors are free to browse while they track the history of Dublin Dr Pepper, a tremendous piece of Dublin heritage.
Rodeo was King once upon a time in Dublin, and by the time Griff left the Dublin Rodeo Heritage Museum, he was looking pretty amazed at the names he had just heard: Gene Autry, Madison Square Garden, Ty Murray… Yes, Murray…for it was he who was largely responsible for bringing Dancing With The Stars into Dublin for two seasons. You did know about that didn’t you?
Of course a key stop for visitors to Dublin is Dublin Bottling Works where visitors can take an antique bottling tour and visit the museum. It was here that we ended our very interesting day.
Stay tuned to Texansunited.com. We’ll let you know when the story is published!
