• Turnbow-Barbee Families To Be Discussed

The following comes to you from Janella Henden, President of the Erath County Genealogical Society. I know that several of you have ties to both the Turnbow and the Barbee families.

    ***********

Hope all of you have your calendars marked for the Erath County Genealogical Society’s regular quarterly meeting to be held at the Dublin Public Library at 2 p.m. in the Clay Room.

After a short business meeting, I will present a power point program on The Turnbough (Turnbow)/Barbee Cabin –Its Land and Its People. I am indebted to Harrell Gilbreath and Tom Rogers for donating pictures and helping edit the materials. Many people have been generous with their time, sharing the memories and recollections concerning the subject.

Sandra Thomas has been wonderful in improving picture quality and putting them on power point (something I was entirely incapable of doing.) This has certainly been a learning experience for me, and I hope you will find it of interest.

Plan to leave room for some of your additions and stories concerning the subject. Remember some of these stories are simply legends – things that have been passed down from generation to generation.

I would like to welcome our new members –Freddie B. Bayne, Marihelen Hickey and Shanon Hunt.

The bi-annual newsletter will be ready for pick up at the meeting. In order to save postage, local members are asked to pick theirs up at the library. Out of town members’ newsletters will be mailed to them.

The dues are still $15.00 per year or $20.00 for a couple that wishes to receive only one copy of the newsletter.

    About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.
