• Tyler Guy Visits Callaway Rope Company

Cowboy Poet Tyler Guy knows a good rope when he sees one; he especially knows a good one when he uses it, and by his own admission he believes a Callaway rope to be the best in the world. Therefore, he was obviously thrilled when I suggested we stop by to see the Callaway family in hope that we could watch a few ropes being made at the same time!

Before we arrived, I explained to everyone that the great thing about the Callaway Rope Company is that it is still a true family-owned business and that the family has not falleninto the pretty trappings that so often eventually ruin a Texas business. I even explained about the cardboard box that holds the time cards and told the story of how this international business was born in the garage with Mrs. Callaway acting as the “motor” for the first piggin maching.

Even with all of my narrative, however, Ty was still amazed that his favorite rope from what he knows to be an international company did not come from a huge warehouse and many plush offices. He left realizing that there are Texans who still know how to do it right.

Here at Texansunited.com, we salute the Callaway family and Callaway Rope Company!
