I can’t quite see all of the ID on this photo so I’m hoping some of you can help me! These are obviously Comanche County, Texas men, and apparently Delmer McDaniel and a Dr. Cadenhead of Brownwood were also involved in this hunt.

If any of you know more about when this photo was taken, where the hunt happened, etc. we’d love to know! And I’m just noticing something in the trailer. Is that the leg of a deer poking out just above the tire?

Niki Easley Melot is the granddaughter of Belve Bean, pictured above. She called to add a bit of info to the photo. Apparently this group of men went on a hunting trip to the Llano area several times through the years, traveling in this truck (1938) that belonged to Bean. They men put the sideboards on the truck so that they could haul everything. The photo was taken in front of the Llano courthouse.

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for texansunited.com and marketing small-town Texas.

  1. Missy Jones says:

Jack Whitten, pictured on the deer hunt, was married to Mildred Adcock of Gustine. I think that Jack was a government trapper and hunter from this county.

  2. jean. evridge says:

wayne evridge’s son gayle evridge lives in lemmon s.d., daughter luann ericksonn lives in spearfish s.d. and daughter eva lives in wyoming. refers to group of hunters picture. wayne was my dad’s brother
