Wednesday Club 1947 Comanche, Texas

Many of you who have roots in Comanche, Texas are going to find someone you know in these photos of the Wednesday Club, taken in December of 1947. The party was held in Sue Carnes’ home and Faye Belle Evans was the hostess. If you will, please use the comment boxes to identify these young women. I see a lot of family genetics, don’t you?

About Fredda Jones

Fredda Davis Jones was raised “in the country” in Comanche County and learned very early that creativity and innovation are traits that can flourish even in small-town Texas and that with enough effort, indeed nothing is impossible, including being married to the same man for over 40 years! Rickey and Fredda have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and a crazy life that includes sitting in the bleachers several times a week. The rest of her time is spent creating great content for and marketing small-town Texas.

Top pic, top row standing: Stella Anthony, ?, Mary Wilkerson, Sarah Dudney, Kathleen Marshall, ?, Madge Blackwood. Next row: Mrs Hoffman sitting on arm of couch, Katherine Stephens, (I think) first one on end of couch, Marge Barret, Medda Rauhut and Faye Belle Evans. On the floor: Julia Jo Baxter, Mary Goodson, Sue Carnes and Mary Louise Durham. Same bunch of the bottom.

Next to Stella Anthony is Dorothy Cauley Neal; Mrs. Hoffman’s given name is Esther. That gets everyone except the lady beside Kat Marshall. If my mother had eyes, she could identify I’m sure.
