Spring is in the air, and, for those wine lovers out there, Comanche has just the ticket for a perfect road trip.
Seventeen years ago, on whim, Pat and Trellise Brennan purchased the McCrary House in Comanche, Texas, to use as a retreat of sorts. Now, that personal retreat has become one of Comanche’s most famous treasures: Brennan Vineyards.
Initially, Brennan Vineyards started with three varieties -Viogner, Muscat, and Comanche Rose. Over the past nine years, the vineyards and winery have grown to harvest and produce twelve varieties of wine and produces between 5,000-7,000 cases per year.
Even though Brennan is in small town Central Texas, the facility and operations (including their own winemaker, Todd Webster) are all very much in tune with much larger operations. Besides the Tasting Room (open Wed-Fri 11-5, Sat 12-5) located in Comanche, if you’re in Fredericksburg, stop by 4.0 Cellars.
