Several years ago the Dublin paper ran a short spot each week called “Meet Your Neighbor.” Sometimes I knew the person and sometimes not–even if I did I usually found out something about him/her that I DIDN’T know.
Planning to do something similar each week here on Texans United, I hope that folks in Dublin will play along and answer a few questions about themselves in the coming weeks.
I decided to start with myself. Born in Gorman, I attended all 12 years of school there before going to Tarleton State University.
Following TSU, I taught in Bridgeport and Holliday school systems and received a master’s degree from Midwestern State before our move to Dublin in August 1981.
During my 28 years in DISD classrooms, I have been privileged to get to know many,
many people here!
Retiring from school in 2009, it has been fun to be downtown and get a whole new
perspective of Dublin through the business community.
Fall is my favorite time of year. Cooler temps, colorful leaves, the anticipation of Thanksgiving and Christmas just ahead, and after so many, many years in school, to me fall means a fresh start on a new year, new pens, pencils, shoes, underwear, learning new things…
The Dublin Public Library is one of my very favorite places. Just before the holidays I had so many things checked out I asked the staff if they needed collateral. I LOVE to read.
Another spot in town that is super is the Dublin City Park. By taking in the RV circle, just at a mile can be squeezed out of the walking path; there is a whole community of “park people” who walk the path frequently.
Walking among the oaks and pecan trees is magnificent any season, but this past fall
was particularly spectacular; there is a host of very unintimidated squirrels that scamper up and down the trees and across the paths.
I am thankful to live in a small town that has some wonderful people and great
services! It’s good to live in Dublin.
