Ike Wade attended Tarleton State University for two years before he and his roommate transferred to A&M where he graduated on May 5, 1977, with a degree in accounting.

For four years Ike worked in the Wichita Falls CPA firm of Kapelski and Baxter.

“I learned so much from Jim Kapelski that within six months I was already working with clients while most of those who graduated at the same time I did were still working behind the scenes. Because of my family background, I handled the agriculture accounts.”

Ike’s Ag background began when he was six years old, believe it or not!

“By the time I was six I was expected to hoe cantaloupes, and I told my parents I was going to college! In high school while everyone else was taking Ag classes, I was taking bookkeeping and typing.”

After four years in Wichita Falls, Ike and wife Patty moved to Dublin, Texas because Patty’s parents were here and they needed to be near them.

“From 1981-1983, I worked as an accountant for the De Leon Peanut Plant, and then from 1983-1985, I worked for Charles Mazurek in Comanche.

“Then, in May of 1985 I was unemployed and Patty and Donnie Skaggs talked me into setting up my own business so on June 10, 1985, Ike Wade’s Tax service opened its doors. I had two clients and I knew five people in Dublin!”

L.H. Jones was one of the people that Ike knew, and “he gave me a back office in his building and let me share his secretary.

“The first six months I paid all of my bills and took home $200.00. I was a kept man. Then in the spring of ’86, Patty and I started the adoption process and on March 30, 1987, we brought Sam home. I have not been caught up since!

“I don’t know if people felt sorry for me since I had a new family to support, but business began to pick up. However, for the first two years I did it all by myself!”

In 1988 Ike moved next door to his present location, but L.H. Jones is still his landlord. However, that’s about all that remains from the early days. Today, Ike has a well-staffed office, and his business has grown from those first two clients to over 500.

“We give the personal touch and confidentiality that people can trust.”
