Taking Care Of YOU When You’re Grieving

Unfortunately, doctors knew quite a bit less in 1980 and even in the mid 1990s, when my real problems with my adrenal glands, etc. began to show on me. Today, I still fight battles that I would not need to fight had someone known how to help me long ago.

If you are in the middle of unbelievable stress as you read today, I hope you will force yourself to really comprehend what Mary Beth tells you. You just might be able to save yourself years of health problems…and while you may not even care about that right now…I can promise you from first-hand experience, the day will come when you will care again.


For the first entire year after Josh’s death I didn’t take care of myself in any way..nor did I care to. I didn’t even exercise that year. Besides our bodies becoming acidic…the stress that is put on our bodies affects our adrenal glands.

Cortisol is one of the things produced by our adrenal glands and is usually the first thing to get depleted. Cortisol has many functions. It helps the body use sugar (glucose) and fat for energy (metabolism), and it helps the body manage stress. So, if we are low on cortisol it can really affect how we deal with our grief.

You don’t have to go to a Dr. to start taking natural supplements to help with this but it does matter what brands you buy to help get your adrenals functioning again. I highly recommend Biogenesis BioAdrenal supplement. You can do a search online and find a place to purchase it. I was told to take 2 in the morning and one mid afternoon. Anything is worth trying to help through this horrible journey.

It takes 3 months of being on anything to know if it’s working…believe me, if you get off of it you’ll know they were working. More later on about the next supplement…lets try to do as much as we can to help our mental and physical health. It helps us deal so much better with our daily tasks.

Health lesson #3 is way past due for everyone…If you have not had a dental appointment to get your teeth cleaned since you lost your child…call tomorrow and make one. My gums and teeth were affected greatly that first year…I had bone loss I can’t replace. And I have always had perfect dental visits. I couldn’t even take care to brush my teeth properly like I did before. Once I went to the dentist that changed because it scared me.

Lack of vitamin D will result in gum inflammation and dental problems…get on a supplement soon. All this snowballs and health declines later on in years because of our stress. Vitamin D does so much more than what we think..we only link it to bones…which is very important. But they are finding it is connected to brain function also.

Basic cognitive function, mood and overall mental health. We already have enough brain fog and forgetfulness because of grief…if we do everything we can to offset what can be fixed by improving our health, hopefully we can deal with the grief itself.
My Vitamin D levels were low.

I am using one brand that has proven to do better in bloodwork than prescription. It is: Ortho Molecular Products. Vitamin D 5000IU. And you always take one with the fattiest meal of the day or it won’t assimilate. It is a fat soluble mineral so it takes fat to be used. Hope this helps…
